Jung 210: Jung and the Divine Masculine - Live Course Begins March 14th!
This course is an ideal resource for anyone interested in learning more about a Jungian approach to masculine psychology. We explore masculine initiation, the four archetypal quadrants, and the integration of masculine and feminine principles.
Explore the path to mature masculinity through Jungian depth psychology
Contemporary culture faces a crisis of uninitiated men – Jung's depth psychology and the fourfold structure of King, Warrior, Magician, and Lover offer a framework for genuine masculine development beyond patriarchal domination or masculine shame
This course examines the archetypal foundations of mature masculinity through Jung's analytical psychology and Robert Moore's groundbreaking work on masculine archetypes. For decades, modern culture has struggled with what some call the masculinity crisis—rising male depression and anxiety, epidemic rates of uninitiated men disconnected from purpose and embodiment, and polarized conversations swinging between defensive patriarchy and shame-based rejection of masculinity itself. Jung's approach offers a third way: understanding masculine psychology as a developmental journey requiring initiation, integration, and conscious relationship with archetypal energies. This eight-module course explores the structure of the masculine psyche through the animus, examines the fourfold archetypal structure of King, Warrior, Magician, and Lover with their bipolar shadows, and addresses the critical absence of masculine initiation in contemporary culture.

I highly recommend Dr. James Newell’s courses. Upon completion of my certificate in Depth Psychology I had gained the confidence, focus and knowledge to support my success in my current PhD program in Jungian and Archetypal Studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute. James is a knowledgeable and caring instructor with an engaging teaching style. All of the Depth Psychology Alliance courses I took: Introduction to Jungian Psychology, Active Imagination, Fairy Tales, Dreams, and many more, were phenomenal and I am most grateful for the opportunity to study with James.

Nirlap Bettenhauser, student
This is an outstanding educational program where one can learn multiple areas of Jungian Psychology. These courses are very well structured with an appropriate course load and high quality texts. Plus the price is incredibly reasonable. The courses I have taken with Dr. Newell have been intellectually engaging and have perfectly prepped me for my graduate studies in psychoanalysis. Not something I expected to receive from the academy, but very grateful I did.
Understand masculine psychology with academic depth and practical wisdom!
Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the psychological needs of contemporary men while acknowledging patriarchy's excesses. Learn why boys don't become men without initiation, how the Puer Aeternus (eternal boy) manifests in modern culture, and why integrating rather than repressing instinctual energies creates psychological health. Drawing on mythology, clinical insight, and cultural analysis, each module builds understanding of how mature masculinity serves life rather than ego.
This course is an ideal resource for men seeking psychological maturity, women wanting to understand masculine development, therapists working with male clients, and anyone interested in balanced depth psychological approaches to gender and individuation. Jung recognized that both masculine and feminine principles require conscious integration for individuation. Moore demonstrated that each archetype – King, Warrior, Magician, Lover – has both fullness and shadow manifestations requiring discernment and stewardship. Whether addressing personal development, clinical practice, or cultural understanding, this course provides essential frameworks for engaging masculine psychology beyond simplistic or reactive positions. Enroll now to explore how depth psychology illuminates the journey from boyhood to mature masculinity in service of personal and collective healing.
